3 periods of screening
1. Preconception
Can
be useful to identify people a risk for specific disorders or at risk for
passing a disorder onto their children.Screening includes obtaining family
histories and carrier screening and is particularly valuable in countries where
consanguineous marriage is common.
2. Peri-conception of Screening
Maternal
characteristics may increase risk, and screening result should be used to offer
appropiate care, according to risk.
3. Neonatal Screening
It’s include screening for disorder of the
blood, metabolism, and hormone.
Amniocentesis
- Down Sydrome, phisical appearance and mental development
- Spina Bifida, develpoment of the spine
and nervous system
- Sickle
Cell of Anemia, red blood cells to
develop abnormally
